Microsoft will increase the minimum system requirements for the Windows 11 operating system. After the update, the new version of the OS will require 16 GB of RAM.
This is a very serious change - because for current versions of Windows 11, only 4 GB of RAM is enough. The changes are dictated by the introduction of the Copilot neural network assistant into the operating system.
A build of Windows 11 with artificial intelligence features is expected to be released in 2024. It is noted that Copilot is memory sensitive and requires fast DRAM. As a result, 2024 laptops will have a base memory specification of 16GB.
Previously, the corporation introduced Copilot Pro. The service will be available to users through a paid subscription that costs $20 per month. In Russia, it is impossible to legally launch a neural network due to Microsoft restrictions.
