Православная церковь 14 октября отмечает праздник Покрова Пресвятой Богородицы, один из самых почитаемых в народе религиозных праздников.Согласно преданию, Богородица явилась молящимся в храме в Константинополе в 910 году. Царица Небесная раскинула свой сияющий омофор, (покров для головы) над верующими в знак заступничества. Когда Богородица удалилась из храма, ее покров стал невидимым, но в храме еще долго оставалась благодать, которая снизошла с Богородицей.
On October 14, the Orthodox Church celebrates the Feast of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos, one of the most revered religious holidays among the people. According to legend, the Mother of God appeared to those praying in the church in Constantinople in 910. The Queen of Heaven spread her shining omophorion (cover for the head) over the believers as a sign of intercession. When the Mother of God left the temple, her cover became invisible, but grace remained in the temple for a long time, which descended with the Mother of God.
