A new virus script has been created for opensim that destroys the opensimulator server database, but the backup copy will not help, since it will also be infected. I will never believe that it was an inworld script. More like an attack on the server itself. Something similar happened with Sacrarium several years ago. No one can be immune from this. The most important thing is to follow security rules on your server and regularly save backups. I don't know any other methods of protection. The death of the grid is always a disaster. Be careful, my friend.
